I’ll be back here tomorrow with one more post and then my move will be final. You’ll be able to follow along with me on my new blog: http://jackierockwell.blogspot.com/

There’s another card challenge that I’ve been planning for a while now. When I have enough followers over at my new blog I may launch it. It’s a lot of hard work putting together a challenge and I want to make sure there will be enough interest. The concept is a little different from most, so I’ll be excited to share it with you when the time is right.

Goodbye sort of . . .

Published on January 7, 2013, by

I’ve been considering taking a break or quitting my blog all together for some time now. After careful consideration, I finally decided to take a break and create a fresh new blog. You’ll find it HERE. First, I’d like to say how very grateful I am to those of you that have dropped by my blog and left comments. I really appreciated the support and it warmed my heart to know that I wasn’t just sharing a part of my passion for card making in vain.

I’d prefer not to go into all the details of why I was going to stop blogging. I think it will suffice to say that I’ve learned a lot about myself having had this experience. I value it because it has taught me some important life lessons. Although it has been a joy sharing my creativity, I’ve also lost a part of myself in the process. I’ll be going back to basics and simplifying my blogging activities. My goal is to spend more quality time with my family and friends. The focus of my blogging for 2013 will be different from 2012.

The most valuable outcome of my blogging experience has been the many wonderful friends I’ve made along the way. I’ll still be visiting their blogs and enjoying the talent, hard work and creativity that they so generously offer to their readers. Many of which do not receive monetary compensation to do so. They share a part of themselves because they’re passionate about their hobby.

I’ll not be posting to this blog in the future except for a post I’ve already prepared for January 12. After that I’ll be posting to a brand new blog I’ve created at http://jackierockwell.blogspot.com/.

I’ll still be coordinating and creating sketches for the CAS(E) this Sketch card challenge blog I created.

I hope you’ll join me at my new location soon. Please stop by and read more about the changes I’m making at My New Blog!

Hugs,

Love

Published on January 2, 2013, by

Sometimes I cut out multiple pieces of a design I’ve created with my Silhouette Cameo. This way I can create different versions easily and quickly. The cutting file on this card is from yesterday’s card. Just scroll down to the post below to see how different it can look. I used my new distress ink colors to create a marbled background for the heart window.

Love U

Published on January 1, 2013, by

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I have a card to share with you today before I get my New Year’s Day dinner in the crock pot. Last night I tried to make a festive card for today but it just wouldn’t come together. So I put that aside and designed a Silhouette Cameo card instead. It’s really easy to quickly weld words to shapes in the Studio software. The font for the word “LOVE” is called Impact and the one for the “U” is called Wendy. I received the Charles Cuttlebug embossing folder for Christmas so I had to try it out on a piece of vellum. I think it looks very pretty on a Valentine’s Day card.

Color My World Heart Card

Published on December 31, 2012, by

I mentioned in my Special to Me card post on Friday that I received some new Distress Inks for Christmas. I promised that I would share a card using them. I used the ink sparingly on this card. I wanted to experiment with how they would look on vellum. I added some ink to my Ranger craft sheet and then spritzed some water onto the ink. I then placed a piece of vellum onto the wet ink. The vellum stays wet for a very long time so I dried it with my heat gun. I love the dreamy look that it produced! Now I think I’ll make a card incorporating a larger area using this technique. I stamped the sentiment onto a white strip of cardstock that I placed underneath the piece of inked vellum.

Favorite Card Review 2012

Published on December 30, 2012, by

I’ve noticed that many bloggers are posting their favorite cards of the past year. What a fun way to reflect back on how we’ve grown and changed over the course of a year. I’ve been blogging since June 2011. Since then, I’ve met so many talented paper crafters! Most have inspired me on a regular basis and some have become my friends. I feel so fortunate to have this hobby in my life. The Internet has allowed me to share my passion for cardmaking with other crafters around the world. I’ve noticed that my style of cardmaking has changed over time and I’ve recently embraced the clean and simple approach. Here are some of my favorite cards of the past year.

Which one is your favorite? If you’ve posted your favorite cards of 2012 please leave me a link, so I can stop by for a peek.

So there you have it . . . my personal favorites for 2012!

Although it was my plan throughout the year to simplify my blogging activities, I’ve been thrilled to be a part of some fantastic Design Teams. I truly value my experiences and have learned a lot about blogging and the craft industry.

As you may have noticed I’ve changed the look of my blog and re-organized it. Over the course of the year it really became cluttered. I wanted to start the new year with a fresh new look. As far as staying all neat and tidy in 2013 . . . well . . . we’ll have to see how that goes! ;)

Thanks so much for visiting my blog and leaving comments over the past year. It really warms my heart to know that I have readers that enjoy seeing my creations. Please remember that I also enjoy seeing your work and LOVE to visit other blogs. So, don’t forget to add your blog address when you comment.

Have a HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!

Special to Me

Published on December 28, 2012, by

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I received some Hero Arts Neon Inks as a gift from my Hubby, and I couldn’t wait to use them!!! They’re so bright and the coverage is very smooth. The colors match my Astrobrights cardstock perfectly. The sentiment and hearts are from the Year Round Sentiments CL582 by Hero Arts. I also received some yummy new distress inks to add to my collection. I’ll be sharing some cards using them sometime soon. Did any of you receive new cardmaking supplies that you’re excited about?
