The Craft’s Meow May Preview Day 1 of 5

It’s that time again for another FANTASTIC 4 days of previews and a FUN blog hop at the end! This month we are welcoming the very talented Guest Designers Sharri Seffens & Annette Allen. Today I’m featuring a wonderfully beautiful stamp set called Flower Garden. It has a great variety of flowers and stems! I think you’ll be seeing me use this pretty stamp set more in the near future! The sentiment is from the lovely Inspired by Audrey stamp set also from The Craft’s Meow.

I’ll have 2 masculine cards to share with you!

The Splatter Technique Challenge over at Moxie Fab was the inspiration for this card’s background. So, I’ll be adding this one to Mister Linky.

Love You Dearly

I have a couple of Father’s day cards to make and I wanted to see if I could incorporate the Moxie Fab Gingham Challenge into one of them. I usually equate gingham patterns with baby or feminine themes. The Moxie inspiration cards are all beautiful and sweet so I decided to go the opposite direction for contrast. I cut out the word “DAD” with my Silhouette Cameo in a masculine looking stencil font onto a piece of kraft card stock. Then I distressed it by using Frayed Burlap Distress Ink and then roughly sanded it. I popped it up on top of a piece of green and white gingham patterned paper. The sentiment, “love you dearly is from the Pretty Phrases stamp set by Paper Smooches. Have you started making your Father’s Day cards yet? Leave a comment and a link to your card. I’d love to go check it out!

PS Sparks Challenge: Designer Drafts May

Happy Monday everyone! I’m so excited to share my first challenge as a Sparks Design Team Member! They have changed up the challenges and have 1 every week instead of every 2 weeks.

Now there are 4 fun themes every month:
Week 1 — Trend Watch
Week 2—Designer Drafts
Week 3—Cool Shades
Week 4—Picture Perfect

This is week 2—Designer Drafts

The Design Team has been split into 2 groups. Group 1 is: Kasia, Heather, Glenda and Lori. Group 2 is: Myself, Angeline, Kim, and Erica. This week is Group 2′s turn, so please stop by their blogs and see what they’ve created!

Enough chit chat—now you know how it works, here’s the inspiration sketch for this week and my take on it is below that. I used the super cute Hang Ups and Alphadot stamp sets. The circles inside the lanterns are from the Alphadot set. I hope you’ll join us in this week’s challenge! Click here to hop on over to the Sparks Challenge Blog to get all the details!!!

RetroSketches #11

It’s that time again! I had so much FUN using this sketch and some of my new Paper Smooches stamp sets!!! RetroSketches has a Guest Designer this week and her name is Tracey. The sketch is based on a super ADORABLE card she made back in September. Click here to see her original card. I adored the colors she used in her card so I  decided to use them in mine. My version follows the sketch closely except for when it came to placing a sentiment and ribbon in the same place. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek! Please take a moment to go check out the other DT’s cards. We hope you’ll join us this week for this really sweet sketch!

I’m also submitting this card to the Young Crafters Unite Challenge #9. They have a No Coloring Allowed challenge going on right now that I wanted to join.

Stamps: My Peeps, Perpetual Bliss, Sentiment Sampler
and He Said She Said by Paper Smooches

You Are Spec(s)tacular

I haven’t played any of the Moxie Fab Challenges lately and then I saw this one about Spectacles. The first inspiration photo really caught my eye—no pun intended, well, maybe just a little! ;) The colors in the image are so fun! The 2 white stars in the banner gave me the idea to use star patterned paper on my card. I added tiny star gems to give it a little sparkle! The title of the challenge gave me an idea to create a card that had a huge call-out burst. I played around with the word “Specs” and came up with the sentiment. The burst is a cutting file I picked up at the Silhouette Online Store. The sentiment is from the Chit Chat and Alphadot stamp sets by Paper Smooches. The glasses are from the Get Outta Town set also by Paper Smooches. Have a SPECTACULAR night! :)

It’s Never too Late . . .

Just a quick post tonight, to share another card I made with my Silhouette Cameo. I also purchased some stamps from Paper Smooches recently and wanted to create an interactive card with the really fun Get Outta Town set. The color palette comes from the Color Throwdown Challenge #190. The beautiful colors remind me of Summer. Hope everyone had a great weekend! :)

RetroSketches #10

I’m always so excited when Saturday rolls around and I can share with you a new RetroSketches challenge! Last week was especially difficult when it came to voting on submissions. There were so many cards that were winners in our eyes! Please hop on over to RetroSketches to see who we narrowed it down to. This week’s sketch is brought to us by the lovely and incredibly talented Laurie. Click here to see her gorgeous card that the sketch is based on. For my card I decided to go with some natural fibers and butterflies for my elements. You’ll have to go see how Laurie, Arielle and Kasia interpreted the sketch—their cards are always a treat to see! Hope you can join us this week!!!

Miss You

Here is a simple little card that I made for this week’s Play Date Cafe Challenge. The colors in the inspiration photos are so feminine and pretty. I decided to use my sweet Vogue Abode stamp set by Paper Smooches to create a scene. The windows are cut out to reveal the inside of the card. I’ll be back tomorrow with my card for the next RetroSketches!

Feel Better Soon

O.K. I apologize but I had to make another card using my Silhouette Cameo. I had this idea in my head and needed to see it in paper. I want to make a series of the card below using different fruit. I have another pear card idea but may wait a while before I create that one.  Here is a link to the Pear cutting file if you like it. The sentiment is from the All Occasions stamp set by Hero Arts.
