Love U

Published on January 1, 2013, by

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I have a card to share with you today before I get my New Year’s Day dinner in the crock pot. Last night I tried to make a festive card for today but it just wouldn’t come together. So I put that aside and designed a Silhouette Cameo card instead. It’s really easy to quickly weld words to shapes in the Studio software. The font for the word “LOVE” is called Impact and the one for the “U” is called Wendy. I received the Charles Cuttlebug embossing folder for Christmas so I had to try it out on a piece of vellum. I think it looks very pretty on a Valentine’s Day card.

Joy

Published on December 9, 2012, by

I’m back to making one layer Christmas cards that are suited for easy mailing. This card was a lot of fun and quick and easy to create. I placed a mask of the tree on my card front and then stamped the background. I removed the mask and then stamped the tree. Then I placed a coordinating piece of washi tape onto the card. (By the way, I’m new to washi tape and I LOVE this stuff!!!) Then I ran the card through my Cuttlebug with a border embossing folder. I stamped the sentiment last. Are you making your holiday cards this year?

December 25

Published on December 5, 2012, by

I had a request from a reader to post some Silhouette Cameo Christmas tags, so here’s one especially for her. I made this from one of the tags from the 3 Notebook Tags set and the tiny Christmas tree tag is from a set called Christmas Gift Tags Folded. I ended up cutting off the slits at the bottom of the large tag. I didn’t think they worked well with the design when I went to put it together. I used the Sizzix Birthday Set #3 embossing folder because it reminded me of snowflakes without being too literal. The numbers were cut out from a font called Univers I have on my computer. I hope to make some more Holiday tags soon, so please check back.

I’m popping this tag into the CAS-ual Fridays Gift Tag Challenge. There are some FANTASTIC gift tag ideas there, you’ll have to check them out! I’m also adding this to the Dynamic Duos Color Challenge #31, a perfect color combo for Christmas tags!

A Gift For You Tag

Published on November 29, 2012, by

This is my third post today. If you’re looking for my CAS(E) this Sketch card, please scroll down to the post below this one.

I made a few cards for the Hero Arts Bring on the Bling Contest and ended up with some great scraps. I decided to make use of them and create a Christmas tag. I added 3 strips of washi tape to the tag and then used a faux letterpress technique with white ink. I glittered the tree and then stamped the sentiment on a scrap piece of vellum. I painted Glossy Accents under and over the piece of vellum to make it blend in with the tag. To give the tag a more consistent look I painted Glossy Accents on the rest of the tag. I think it gives the tag a frosty look.

I’m submitting this tag into the Hero Arts Bring on the Bling Contest. I used the following Hero Arts stamps to create this card: CL540 and CL343.

PEACE • LOVE • JOY Tree Card

Here’s another card I made for the current Hero Arts Bring on the Bling Contest. This is a different version of THIS CARD, I also entered into the contest. I added a partial faux letterpress technique to this one to give it a wintry snowy feel. Two of their themes are dry embossing and bling, so I think this one qualifies for both. I stamped the Christmas tree and sentiment on vellum so that the background stamping would show through.

I used the following Hero Arts stamps to create this card: CL540CL551CL343 and CG313 Word Pop.

You’ll have to stop back by this morning at 10:00 a.m. EST for the card I made for the next CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge! Have a WONDERFUL day!!!

The Cameo Spotlight Challenge #7

Published on November 3, 2012, by

I was so sad when my Design Team term ended at Paper Smooches. So, today is a happy day for me because I’m sharing a card I made using one of my favorite products, Kim’s sentiment stamps. I used Joyful Greetings for this card. I also used the 5 Christmas Icons cutting files from the Silhouette Online Store.

I hope you’ll join us this time at The Cameo Spotlight for a chance to win a fantastic $30 gift certificate from Paper Smooches! What I love best about Kim’s line of stamps are how easy the sentiments are to use with my Cameo cards. You won’t be disappointed by the brightly colored and FUN cards the Design Team has created for this challenge!!! Go take a peek and you’ll see what I mean!

PS Sparks Challenge: Picture Perfect October

Published on October 22, 2012, by

This is the last card I’ll be posting for the Paper Smooches Sparks challenge as a Design Team member. I’m very sad that my term has ended. I’ve enjoyed every minute of being on the team! I’ll always LOVE Kim’s line of stamps and continue to use them in many of my future projects. I want to thank Kim, Savannah and the entire Sparks team for a super FUN term. I can’t wait to see what the new team will be creating!

I used Zoo Crew and Hang Ups stamps sets to create this card. I created the frame with my Silhouette Cameo. The inspiration photo was so cool to work with. I hope you’ll join us for this challenge. Hop on over to the Sparks challenge blog and check out the fabulous new team! You won’t be disappointed by the talent that these ladies will be sharing with you for the next 6 months!

The Cameo Spotlight Challenge #5

Published on October 6, 2012, by

You’ll have to go check out the winners of the last Cameo Spotlight challenge, the cards are outstanding!!! This time it’s a color challenge and we have a wonderful sponsor and Guest Designer. Avery Elle has donated a $15 gift certificate to the winner of challenge #5! The very talented Chrissy Larson is joining us as a Guest Designer. She’s played in every challenge since the beginning and her cards are so inspirational. I used the Button Tree file from the Silhouette Online Store for my card today. I loved that this tree had buttons instead of leaves, I think it’s a fun and different look!

I almost forgot to tell you what’s so special about Avery Elle! They offer FREE cutting files with their stamp sets!!! Now, how COOL is that! Hope you’ll join us in our color challenge for a chance to win this GREAT prize!
