Here Comes Fall!

Published on August 29, 2012, by

My favorite color palettes and images are from fall. Those of you that have been apple picking know how much fun it is and how refreshing it feels when the weather is crisp. The cooler weather always seems to make me feel more energetic! I also adore the texture of natural fibers on my cards. I have 2 more fall cards to share with you this week. So stop back by for a peek! I used Engraved Fruits, and Thinking of You Messages stamps sets and the Designer Woodgrain background stamp by Hero Arts. (Please let me know if any of you are having problems with commenting. Thanks! Click here to contact me.)

I’m popping this card into the Moxie Fab World Asymmetry Challenge.

Don’t forget, those of you who use their Silhouette Cameo or SD to create cards are invited to submit your cards to our challenge. Hop on over to The Cameo Spotlight to check out challenge #2!

PS Sparks Challenge: Picture Perfect June

Published on June 25, 2012, by

Today I’m sharing a card I made for this week’s Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge. The challenge is to create a project using the inspiration photo. Below is my take on the picture. The elements that jumped out at me were the little flags, the shape of the spring form cake pan and the aqua pool water in the background. I used the super fun Qwick Qwips stamp set for my sentiment. I also used the Debonair stamp set to make the houndstooth pennants and bright red flowers. I like the idea that I could use this design over and over again for different occasions by just switching out the sentiment at the top.

(Just in case you’re wondering . . . I used a very high-tech device to create the semi-circle negative shape! ;) Nope, not my Silhouette Cameo, although that would have been fun. I just traced the edge of a small plate to get the curve. Then I cut the square into 2 pieces and trimmed the straight edges to get the gap.) Tomorrow I will be posting a card I made using my Silhouette Cameo.

I hope you’ll join us this week—hop on over to the Sparks Blog and check out the details! Please don’t forget to visit the ladies on Team 2, I’m sure they’d love to hear from you!!!

The Craft’s Meow June Preview Day 2 of 5

Published on June 18, 2012, by

Hi everyone it’s day 2 of The Craft’s Meow 5 days of previews. Today we are featuring 2 sweet stamp sets, one is called Stitched Flowers and the other is Stitched Sentiments. Both of these stamps sets are so adorable and whimsical with their dashed outlines. I decided to make a fairly simple card so the cute little flowers would stand out. I haven’t used the faux stitching technique in a long while. I thought that it would be a lovely addition to the stitched style of the flowers and sentiment.

Click HERE to check out all the details and to see what the rest of the TCM Design Team has created! (If you leave a comment you will be eligible to win each stamp set featured in a day from TCM. If there are 2 sets in a day, there will be 2 winners! The deadline to leave those comments is 9:00pm PDT each day) Pop back by tomorrow for another sneak peek!

RetroSketches #15

Published on June 9, 2012, by

Hope everyone is having a fun weekend! Today I have a new sketch for you based on an adorable card made by Laurie. HERE is her original card. Don’t you just LOVE the colors? Here is my take on this week’s RetroSketch. I created a clear window with a piece of acetate that I embossed and attached behind the die cut shape. I placed the same die cut shape cut from card stock inside, so that the color would peek through. This was NOT an easy card to photograph!

Hope you’ll join us HERE this week. Last week there were 112 fantastic cards submitted!!! I enjoyed seeing each an every one of them! :)

RetroSketches #13

Published on May 26, 2012, by

The weeks have to stop going by so quickly! It seems like the last RetroSketch post was only a few days ago! Today’s sketch is based on a card I made back in September of last year. You can click HERE to take a peek at it. I followed my original design fairly closely but wanted to use a different color palette this time. Instead of using patterned paper for the horizontal strip I used a piece of vellum. I cut out a section of the card base and then reattached the vellum where the removed section use to be. I like the frosty dimensional look it gives the card.

I recently received my prize from Hero Arts and was itching to use the Playful Flowers and Butterflies and Floral Framelits Die and Stamp Sets! Thanks so much Hero Arts—I’m thoroughly enjoying these fabulous sets!!! I also used the Designer Woodgrain and Envelope Background stamps. The sentiment is from the Everyday Sayings stamp set by Hero Arts as well. I hope you’ll join us this week at RetroSketches! Last week we had some super fantastic submissions!!! Head on over to RetroSketches to see what Arielle, Kasia and Laurie have created this week! While you’re there you can also check out the fabulous ROCKstar and SHOUTouts!

I used the “Get Well Soon” sentiment so that I could submit this card into the Paper Crafts Gallery Idol challenge—the theme is Encouragement. I’m also going to link this up with the fun flower challenge over at the Young Crafter’s Unite Blog. I’ve recently discovered their challenge blog and the Design Team has fantastic samples that are really inspiring! You”ll have to go check them out!!!

A Sakura Flowers Thank You

Published on April 29, 2012, by

How is everyone’s weekend going so far? Today I have another card I made using my Silhouette Cameo. I was looking for some flower images on the Silhouette Online Store to create a card for the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge and found these gorgeous Sakura Flowers. The challenge is to create a project with flowers or trees. I created a card with a tree the other day—so today it’s flowers. I’ll let you in on a little secret . . . the centers of the flowers in the cutting file were too tiny to cut properly. So I searched high and low in my stash for a stamp to use that would have the same look. My Hohoho stamp set by There She Goes has 4 snowflakes and 2 worked perfectly! Don’t you just love being able to repurpose stamps in an entirely different way than what they were intended for?
