Celebrate the Season

Published on December 8, 2012, by

Just a quick little post today to share a card I made for 2 challenges. The color palette is from the Dynamic Duos challenge #32 and CASology has a Sparkle theme this week. The shape I used is from a die set from Lifestyle Crafts called Tabs (Large) REV-0001. I cut out the trees from the Merry paper pad by My Minds Eye. The sentiment is from CL343 by Hero Arts. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

Happy Friday everyone!!! I have a simple fall card to share with you today. I love the texture of the felt leaves! The pretty sentiment is from a Craft’s Meow stamp set called Fall Blessings. I’m submitting this card to the “Thanks” challenge over at CASology. They always come up with great theme ideas. Fall Back to 2009

Published on September 9, 2012, by

If you’re looking for my Cameo Spotlight card please scroll down to the previous post.

I was looking through the files on my computer for something to inspire a fall card and found this. It’s a card I made back in 2009! I remember how excited I was when I bought the Quickutz dies I used to make this card. Lifestyle Crafts still sells them. I adore the leaves die and the branches die. A wonderfully designed leaf and branch are so classic and never go out of style.

It’s fun to revisit some of these older supplies and breath new life into them. I’ll have to dig them out of the old shoe box and see what I can create.

RetroSketches #17

Published on June 23, 2012, by

Time for another RetroSketch card! This week’s sketch is based on THIS super fantastic card by our fearless leader Arielle. I really admire her coloring skills on her original card. The colors and arrangement of colors on the peacock are stunning! My card is on the simple side this time. I had a huge pile of scraps and shapes from last week’s RetroSketch card sitting on my table. They were just waiting to be made into a card—so I put them to good use. Please go take a peek at what Arielle, Laurie and Kasia have created. I’m always thrilled with what they come up with!

Love Always Valentine’s Card

Published on February 4, 2012, by

I guess I was feeling ambitious this weekend and made another card for the Create Blog Valentine’s Challenge and the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger: Fancy Schmancy Challenge. When I saw the inspiration photo at the Moxie Fab World Blog I had the idea of cutting a vellum envelope with my pinking rotary blade. I wanted to mimic the paper wrapper that the petit fours are resting on. It’s kind of like a belly band for the card. Then I stamped and embossed the dark pink, light pink, brown and kraft cardstock using my Speckled Ornaments stamp set by Hero Arts. Hope everyone is having a fun weekend! I’m really looking forward to the Super Bowl game tomorrow!

There She Goes Dollar Find Friday

Published on October 14, 2011, by

I hope you enjoyed the TSG Wednesday Trends post . . . today is my turn to post a project made from a dollar find on the TSG Blog. While searching out my dollar find item I saw some little snack size storage containers. I thought they would make a cute little Halloween treat holder. Below are the supplies I gathered:

I prepared my project by stamping and cutting out all of the components. I cut out circles of black burlap, circles of patterned paper, grass, a sign and a pumpkin. I used the Bugs and Hisses stamp set by TSG. I wanted my sign to say Happy Halloween. So I snipped the word Happy from the stamp, Happy Haunting and Halloween from the stamp, Have a frightfully spooky Halloween. That’s one of the best features of using clear stamps, you can cut them apart to use them in new ways!

I found that Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive worked best to glue the burlap to the plastic lid. The burlap has such a great texture!

I glued the patterned paper circle to the burlap and then glued the sign and grass. I popped up the pumpkin with Scotch Mounting Tape.

These where inexpensive to make and I’m sure would be enjoyed by a classroom of children for a Halloween party. They could also be tucked inside a lunchbox as a sweet little surprise or just given out as a Halloween treat.

TSG Paper Doll Card

Published on September 5, 2011, by

Happy Labor Day! I have taken a few days off from blogging but have a card to share with you today. I created a paper doll card with the adorable giraffe from the Zoo-pendous stamp set by There She Goes Clear Stamps. I made a little pocket for the paper doll to slide into from one of the Grommet Tags by Spellbinders. I placed dimensional Mounting Tape by Scotch on the bottom of the tag to create the pocket.

There She Goes is celebrating their 3rd birthday with some fantastic challenges! The first one is using paper dolls. HERE is a terrific tutorial by Christine Okken on how to make a paper doll with a stand. If you would like learn more about the challenge visit the There She Goes Blog for details.

Moxi Fab World’s Tuesday Trigger – Luminous Layers

Published on August 14, 2011, by

I frequently visit Moxi Fab World’s Tuesday Trigger because of the great challenges and inspiration photos. I wanted to take part in this challenge but wasn’t sure if I would get the card I had in mind completed by the deadline. The dress looks so comfortable and light yet it has such a wonderful dimensional flow to it. Even though the dress appears to be soft and feminine it also has a vintage shabby chic style as well. I wanted my card to reflect the texture of the pattern and delicate feel the fabric must have when you wear it. I also wanted to incorporate the subtle distressed look it has as well.

Silhouette Grass Card

Published on August 11, 2011, by

I was interested in playing the All White challenge over at the Simon Stamp Challenge Blog. So when I began creating this card from a sketch, I had planned on making it an all white card. It didn’t let me do it, no matter how hard I tried! ;) it wanted to be warm colors with patterned paper. I guess I will have to try again with another design and see what happens. :)
