CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #9

Published on December 13, 2012, by

Here we are on #9 of our CTS challenges, time sure does fly by quickly! Today we have a sketch I created. It works well turned in any direction. You could hang ornaments, turn it upside down and use trees or flowers or turn it sideways and they become branches. You could get funky and create something abstract. I decided to embrace my new-found LOVE for washi tape and create a vibrant and fun Christmas card.

The CTS Design Team has created a huge variety of wonderful cards to share with you! Hop on over and take a peek, maybe you’ll see something that will spark your imagination!!! Hope you’ll play along before we go on our Holiday break!

Happy Friday everyone!!! I have a simple fall card to share with you today. I love the texture of the felt leaves! The pretty sentiment is from a Craft’s Meow stamp set called Fall Blessings. I’m submitting this card to the “Thanks” challenge over at CASology. They always come up with great theme ideas. Have a wonderful weekend! :)

PEACE • LOVE • JOY

Published on November 10, 2012, by

My cardmaking activities have slowed down to a snail’s pace now. As a consequence, I have a lot of crafty free time and boredom is not my friend! So I’m going to take this “PEACFUL” time to make some cards just for fun. Today’s card was inspired by a punch I purchased a while back that I never got around to using until now. I used my distress inks to create the background behind the stars. I colored the tiny grosgrain ribbon with one of my Copic markers so that it would match. The wonderful sentiment is from the Holiday Sayings CL343 stamp set from Hero Arts.

P.S. If you’re like me and find you have some free time over the weekend, consider playing along with us over at CAS(E) this Sketch! A sketch challenge is always a GREAT boredom buster!

CAS(E) this Sketch! Challenge #2

Published on October 18, 2012, by

I’m OVER THE MOON thrilled with the participation in our first challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch! There were so many FANTASTIC cards it was extremely difficult to narrow down our choices to just end up with 1 Winner and 4 Favorites. Please stop by CAS(E) this Sketch! to see who the talented winners of our inaugural challenge are.

Today I’m super excited to show you one of Lisa’s sketches. This one is so much fun because it leaves plenty of room to interpret in so many ways. I decided to go with a beautiful vintage image from the Vintage Clocks stamp set by The Craft’s Meow. I kept it simple but couldn’t resist adding a brad to the clock face and popping it and the decorative chain up to add some dimension. We’d LOVE to see your take on this sketch! Drop by CAS(E) this Sketch and check out the How to Play page!

If you’ve been to my blog before you’ll notice I’ve done a little re-decorating. I’ve cleaned up, added a new header and fixed a few glitches. I didn’t realize that my RSS feed was not working properly. If you’d like to follow my blog in your reader please click the orange button under my photo at the top of this page. So glad you dropped by!

Just Because . . .

Published on August 30, 2012, by

Sooo, I almost forgot to post my second fall card today! If you’ve been following my blog you’ll know how much I LOVE cork!!! This stuff cuts like butta’! So it was really easy to punch out the 3 leaves with my Martha Stewart punch. I stamped and embossed the the brown background and the cream-colored card base with the Designer Woodgrain background stamp by Hero Arts. The sentiment is from the Everyday Sayings stamp set also by Hero Arts.

I’m submitting this card into the Moxie Fab World Repetition Challenge.

The Cameo Spotlight DT Announcement

Published on August 1, 2012, by

It seems like an eternity since I announced the creation of The Cameo Spotlight! Now I can finally introduce the brand new Cameo Spotlight Design Team!!! First, I want to celebrate with a Silhouette Cameo card I made for this occasion. I cut out the word, “FEEL” and then embossed each letter with a different embossing folder. This way the recipient can actually feel the texture of the word “FEEL”. I also typed and cut out the word “better” and welded it together in the Studio software program. The butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch. I know it doesn’t seem like a celebration themed card but in a way, it is. I’ve been “FEELing” so many butterflies in my stomach lately that creating this card was a therapeutic way to distract me from my nervous excitement.

You’ll have to hop on over to The Cameo Spotlight challenge blog to meet the FANTASTIC new Design Team! While your there please leave a comment introducing yourself and say hi to the the Design Team. We’d LOVE to hear from you. See you there!!!

Click HERE if you’d like to take a peek at some of the Silhouette Cameo cards I’ve made.

RetroSketches #20

Published on July 14, 2012, by

Here is this week’s RetroSketch! This lovely multi-layered sketch was inspired by THIS beauty of a card by Laurie. I decided to use another part of the Silhouette Studio cutting file I created for THIS card. The file for this version of my bird house is available for you to download at the bottom of this post. The sentiment is from the Chit Chat stamp set by Paper Smooches. I hope you’ll join us this week at RetroSketches!

Here’s the FREE Silhouette Studio file. Enjoy! :)

(If you use any of my files I would love to see what you create. If you post a project using my designs please mention where you picked up the file. Please also link back to my blog so that I can share my files with others.)

RetroSketches #19

Published on July 7, 2012, by

This week at RetroSketches it’s one of Kasia’s beautiful cards that our sketch is based on. You can see her bright and cheerful card HERE. I’ve decided to turn the sketch and use a vertical or portrait version of the design. I used the Hello Sunshine stamp and die sets from Papertrey Ink to create the rays of sunshine and the sentiment. I adore vellum so I placed a pale blue strip over the top of the chevron patterned paper to soften it. Then I cut 2 orange rays and a sun— tucking them behind the sentiment layer to add more dimension.

Come join us this week—we’d love to see your take on this week’s RetroSketch!
