Love

Published on January 2, 2013, by

Sometimes I cut out multiple pieces of a design I’ve created with my Silhouette Cameo. This way I can create different versions easily and quickly. The cutting file on this card is from yesterday’s card. Just scroll down to the post below to see how different it can look. I used my new distress ink colors to create a marbled background for the heart window.

Favorite Card Review 2012

Published on December 30, 2012, by

I’ve noticed that many bloggers are posting their favorite cards of the past year. What a fun way to reflect back on how we’ve grown and changed over the course of a year. I’ve been blogging since June 2011. Since then, I’ve met so many talented paper crafters! Most have inspired me on a regular basis and some have become my friends. I feel so fortunate to have this hobby in my life. The Internet has allowed me to share my passion for cardmaking with other crafters around the world. I’ve noticed that my style of cardmaking has changed over time and I’ve recently embraced the clean and simple approach. Here are some of my favorite cards of the past year.

Which one is your favorite? If you’ve posted your favorite cards of 2012 please leave me a link, so I can stop by for a peek.

So there you have it . . . my personal favorites for 2012!

Although it was my plan throughout the year to simplify my blogging activities, I’ve been thrilled to be a part of some fantastic Design Teams. I truly value my experiences and have learned a lot about blogging and the craft industry.

As you may have noticed I’ve changed the look of my blog and re-organized it. Over the course of the year it really became cluttered. I wanted to start the new year with a fresh new look. As far as staying all neat and tidy in 2013 . . . well . . . we’ll have to see how that goes! ;)

Thanks so much for visiting my blog and leaving comments over the past year. It really warms my heart to know that I have readers that enjoy seeing my creations. Please remember that I also enjoy seeing your work and LOVE to visit other blogs. So, don’t forget to add your blog address when you comment.

Have a HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!

Special to Me

Published on December 28, 2012, by

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I received some Hero Arts Neon Inks as a gift from my Hubby, and I couldn’t wait to use them!!! They’re so bright and the coverage is very smooth. The colors match my Astrobrights cardstock perfectly. The sentiment and hearts are from the Year Round Sentiments CL582 by Hero Arts. I also received some yummy new distress inks to add to my collection. I’ll be sharing some cards using them sometime soon. Did any of you receive new cardmaking supplies that you’re excited about?

CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #9

Published on December 13, 2012, by

Here we are on #9 of our CTS challenges, time sure does fly by quickly! Today we have a sketch I created. It works well turned in any direction. You could hang ornaments, turn it upside down and use trees or flowers or turn it sideways and they become branches. You could get funky and create something abstract. I decided to embrace my new-found LOVE for washi tape and create a vibrant and fun Christmas card.

The CTS Design Team has created a huge variety of wonderful cards to share with you! Hop on over and take a peek, maybe you’ll see something that will spark your imagination!!! Hope you’ll play along before we go on our Holiday break!

Santa Chalkboard Card

Published on December 11, 2012, by

I’ve been noticing a lot of chalkboard projects popping up all over the place. I absolutely adore them!!! The typography being the focal point just makes me swoon. When I was in college my major was Graphic Design/Letterform. Creating posters with just typefaces was one of my favorite projects! I used 4 stamp sets to create the typography collage on the chalkboard. I won’t list them because a couple of them are retired Technique Tuesday sets. If you would like to give this technique a try, gather up all the sentiment sets you have and play around with combining them. Don’t forget to add a flourish or banner here or there.

Click HERE for a wonderful post by Betsy Veldman that talks about how to create this look. If you leave a comment include your blog address, I’d love to come by and see your projects.

Joy

Published on December 9, 2012, by

I’m back to making one layer Christmas cards that are suited for easy mailing. This card was a lot of fun and quick and easy to create. I placed a mask of the tree on my card front and then stamped the background. I removed the mask and then stamped the tree. Then I placed a coordinating piece of washi tape onto the card. (By the way, I’m new to washi tape and I LOVE this stuff!!!) Then I ran the card through my Cuttlebug with a border embossing folder. I stamped the sentiment last. Are you making your holiday cards this year?

Just a quick little post today to share a card I made for 2 challenges. The color palette is from the Dynamic Duos challenge #32 and CASology has a Sparkle theme this week. The shape I used is from a die set from Lifestyle Crafts called Tabs (Large) REV-0001. I cut out the trees from the Merry paper pad by My Minds Eye. The sentiment is from CL343 by Hero Arts. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

Winter Wonderland

Published on December 7, 2012, by

Happy Friday everyone!!! I have another tag for you but this one can also be a card or an ornament. I used a cutting file from the Silhouette Online store called Circle Winter Frame. I cut out another circle for the background in white and then inked it with distress ink. I embossed the sentiment before I inked the background. The sentiment is from an older set from Close to My Heart called Winter Wonderland. Have a terrific weekend!

I’m submitting this tag into the ColourQ Challenge #166. I haven’t played in this challenge for a while and LOVED the wintery color palette!
