I created a card with an image by a brand new artist that Whimsy Stamps has just added to their line of Digi Stamps. Isn’t she cute? She is funky with a little bit of an edge. My daughter challenged me to create a card with her. My inspiration came from the outrageously cool Harajuku Girls. I am entering her into the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes Challenge HERE.

Heart Vase Card – Play Date Cafe Challenge #93

Published on August 6, 2011, by

Hope everyone is having a terrific weekend! I am really enjoying working with digital stamps lately. I still love to use traditional stamps but like going back and forth from creating with digital images to rubber stamp images. To me, there is not a lot of difference. I just use a different tool and medium to transfer the images to paper but from then on the process is pretty much the same. There are pros and cons to both types of images. The image I used in this card is called Heart Vase by Meljen’s Designs at Whimsy Stamps. I printed it out twice, colored it in with Copics and then cut out the flowers and the Spellbinders shape and popped them up. I was inspired to make this card by the color palette I saw on The Play Date Cafe Challenge #93. I was crazy about the colors so I created a card with them and now I am entering it in the challenge. There is still time to enter the challenge HERE if you want to play along. (I don’t list supplies on the weekends but will list a specific item or items for anyone that requests them either by email or in a comment.)

Here is the (sea)quel ;) to my last card the Seafaring Seagull Card that I paper pieced. I wanted to use the same image but use a different technique to colorize him. I added hemp cord to the post the seagull is sitting on and Liguid Glass (similar to Glossy Accents by Ranger) to the water below.

Seafaring Seagull Card

Published on July 25, 2011, by

Happy Monday everyone! As I said in yesterday’s post I picked up a few of the Meljen’s Designs digital stamps from Whimsy Stamps. I paper pieced this card but I also want to create a card with this image using my Prismacolor colored pencils. I am going to print him onto kraft cardstock and then color him in with the pencils. I want to show how you can achieve a totally different look depending on what technique and or medium you use.

Lovely Little Apron Card

Published on July 24, 2011, by

O.K. so I wanted to make something really different and out of my comfort zone. This card was entirely too much fun to make! It felt like I was playing with paper dolls again like I did as a small child. It was nostalgic and it was pure escapism to feel so playful again. I hope you give this paper piecing technique a try so you can feel like a kid again, even if it is only for a short time. ;)

I won’t be listing the supplies I used to make this card but thought I would let you know where to find the apron image if you like it. I picked up this Meljen’s Designs digital stamp at Whimsy Stamps. I also selected a few others and plan on making some more cards with them. Although digital stamps take some getting use to, I find that for now they are appropriate for me, due to the limited space I have at the moment. (I don’t list supplies on the weekends but will provide them for anyone that requests them either by email or in a comment.)
