CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #9

Published on December 13, 2012, by

Here we are on #9 of our CTS challenges, time sure does fly by quickly! Today we have a sketch I created. It works well turned in any direction. You could hang ornaments, turn it upside down and use trees or flowers or turn it sideways and they become branches. You could get funky and create something abstract. I decided to embrace my new-found LOVE for washi tape and create a vibrant and fun Christmas card.

The CTS Design Team has created a huge variety of wonderful cards to share with you! Hop on over and take a peek, maybe you’ll see something that will spark your imagination!!! Hope you’ll play along before we go on our Holiday break!

Santa Chalkboard Card

Published on December 11, 2012, by

I’ve been noticing a lot of chalkboard projects popping up all over the place. I absolutely adore them!!! The typography being the focal point just makes me swoon. When I was in college my major was Graphic Design/Letterform. Creating posters with just typefaces was one of my favorite projects! I used 4 stamp sets to create the typography collage on the chalkboard. I won’t list them because a couple of them are retired Technique Tuesday sets. If you would like to give this technique a try, gather up all the sentiment sets you have and play around with combining them. Don’t forget to add a flourish or banner here or there.

Click HERE for a wonderful post by Betsy Veldman that talks about how to create this look. If you leave a comment include your blog address, I’d love to come by and see your projects.

Joy

Published on December 9, 2012, by

I’m back to making one layer Christmas cards that are suited for easy mailing. This card was a lot of fun and quick and easy to create. I placed a mask of the tree on my card front and then stamped the background. I removed the mask and then stamped the tree. Then I placed a coordinating piece of washi tape onto the card. (By the way, I’m new to washi tape and I LOVE this stuff!!!) Then I ran the card through my Cuttlebug with a border embossing folder. I stamped the sentiment last. Are you making your holiday cards this year?

Celebrate the Season

Published on December 8, 2012, by

Just a quick little post today to share a card I made for 2 challenges. The color palette is from the Dynamic Duos challenge #32 and CASology has a Sparkle theme this week. The shape I used is from a die set from Lifestyle Crafts called Tabs (Large) REV-0001. I cut out the trees from the Merry paper pad by My Minds Eye. The sentiment is from CL343 by Hero Arts. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

Winter Wonderland

Published on December 7, 2012, by

Happy Friday everyone!!! I have another tag for you but this one can also be a card or an ornament. I used a cutting file from the Silhouette Online store called Circle Winter Frame. I cut out another circle for the background in white and then inked it with distress ink. I embossed the sentiment before I inked the background. The sentiment is from an older set from Close to My Heart called Winter Wonderland. Have a terrific weekend!

I’m submitting this tag into the ColourQ Challenge #166. I haven’t played in this challenge for a while and LOVED the wintery color palette!

CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #8

Published on December 6, 2012, by

When I set out to make a card for CTS challenge #8, I ended up with 2 cards. I made both using my Silhouette Cameo. The other card was made by using the negative shape that cutting the numbers out created.  You can see what I mean by clicking HERE. The pretty font I used for the numbers is called Musica. The poinsettia is a cutting file from the Silhouette Online Store called Christmas Poinsettia.

Our sketch this week is so beautiful, it’s sure to stir up some card ideas for you. I hope you’ll drop by and take a peek at all of the wonderful cards the Design Team has created! We also have 3 important announcements that you’ll want to check out.

Merry Christmas

Published on December 4, 2012, by

I was playing around with making a card for the next CAS(E) this Sketch challenge and ended up with 2 cards. This one is made from the negative cut from the card you’ll see on Thursday. I used the negative shape that was left over as a stencil and sponged the number 25 with it.

CAS(E) this Sketch! Challenge #7

Published on November 29, 2012, by

Wow, I’m amazed at how many wonderful cards were submitted to our last CTS challenge! It sure is a lot of fun seeing everyone’s take on the sketches!!! Today we have a sketch I created. Remember, even though most of the the DT kept the orientation of this sketch, feel free to turn it.

I used a super cute stamp set from Hero Arts to create this card. It’s CL540 if you want to check it out. I’m adding this card to their current Bring on the Bling contest. It qualifies for both the bling and the color theme categories of the challenge.

PEACE • LOVE • JOY Tree Card

Published on November 29, 2012, by

Here’s another card I made for the current Hero Arts Bring on the Bling Contest. This is a different version of THIS CARD, I also entered into the contest. I added a partial faux letterpress technique to this one to give it a wintry snowy feel. Two of their themes are dry embossing and bling, so I think this one qualifies for both. I stamped the Christmas tree and sentiment on vellum so that the background stamping would show through.

I used the following Hero Arts stamps to create this card: CL540CL551CL343 and CG313 Word Pop.

You’ll have to stop back by this morning at 10:00 a.m. EST for the card I made for the next CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge! Have a WONDERFUL day!!!
