Color My World Heart Card

Published on December 31, 2012, by

I mentioned in my Special to Me card post on Friday that I received some new Distress Inks for Christmas. I promised that I would share a card using them. I used the ink sparingly on this card. I wanted to experiment with how they would look on vellum. I added some ink to my Ranger craft sheet and then spritzed some water onto the ink. I then placed a piece of vellum onto the wet ink. The vellum stays wet for a very long time so I dried it with my heat gun. I love the dreamy look that it produced! Now I think I’ll make a card incorporating a larger area using this technique. I stamped the sentiment onto a white strip of cardstock that I placed underneath the piece of inked vellum.

Special to Me

Published on December 28, 2012, by

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I received some Hero Arts Neon Inks as a gift from my Hubby, and I couldn’t wait to use them!!! They’re so bright and the coverage is very smooth. The colors match my Astrobrights cardstock perfectly. The sentiment and hearts are from the Year Round Sentiments CL582 by Hero Arts. I also received some yummy new distress inks to add to my collection. I’ll be sharing some cards using them sometime soon. Did any of you receive new cardmaking supplies that you’re excited about?

Making Spirits Bright Ornament

Published on November 27, 2012, by

I made this card with 2 challenges in mind. I was so inspired by all the cards that were being made for the current CASE Study challenge. I decided to try to squeeze a card into the challenge before it closes today. I also used the Paper Smooches Sparks photo for my color palette inspiration. This card design is based on a Christmas ornament I made last year. You can see it HERE. This design could also be made into a gift tag.

Here’s the CASE Study inspiration card by the very talented Angeline Yong.

Here’s the inspiration photo from Paper Smooches Sparks.

I used Whirligigs and Joyful Greetings stamp sets from Paper Smooches for this card. Hope you’re having a wonderful day today! :)

Season’s Greetings

Published on November 12, 2012, by

I wanted to make a Christmas card with an ornament but realized I didn’t have a stamp set with one. So I combined some older stamps with some new and came up with this. The border of the ornament is made from a stamp from my Borders Corners and Circles set from Papertrey Ink. The inside is made from a stamp from a Paper Smooches set called Whirligigs. The garland, the hanger and the ornament topper is from another set called WhirlyGigs from Technique Tuesday. The sentiment is from the Holiday Sayings set from Hero Arts. A quick and easy card that I’ll probably make in different colors to mail out this Christmas.

The Cameo Spotlight Challenge #7

Published on November 3, 2012, by

I was so sad when my Design Team term ended at Paper Smooches. So, today is a happy day for me because I’m sharing a card I made using one of my favorite products, Kim’s sentiment stamps. I used Joyful Greetings for this card. I also used the 5 Christmas Icons cutting files from the Silhouette Online Store.

I hope you’ll join us this time at The Cameo Spotlight for a chance to win a fantastic $30 gift certificate from Paper Smooches! What I love best about Kim’s line of stamps are how easy the sentiments are to use with my Cameo cards. You won’t be disappointed by the brightly colored and FUN cards the Design Team has created for this challenge!!! Go take a peek and you’ll see what I mean!

CAS(E) this Sketch! Challenge #3

Published on October 25, 2012, by

Whoo Hoo challenge #2 had 139 wonderful submissions!!! As you can imagine this many players makes our job of selecting winners nearly impossible. So to ease that pain and to celebrate even more outstanding cards we’ve added another category. Below is my card and the sketch for this week. I used the Space Cadet stamp set by Paper Smooches. I also cut out the positive and negative circular shape with my Silhouette Cameo. You could cut out this shape just as easily with a circle punch or Spellbinder die.

Go check out the winner’s cards and the new challenge over at CAS(E) this Sketch! I’ll be posting another card I made using this sketch tomorrow. Have a GREAT day today!!!

PS Sparks Challenge: Picture Perfect October

Published on October 22, 2012, by

This is the last card I’ll be posting for the Paper Smooches Sparks challenge as a Design Team member. I’m very sad that my term has ended. I’ve enjoyed every minute of being on the team! I’ll always LOVE Kim’s line of stamps and continue to use them in many of my future projects. I want to thank Kim, Savannah and the entire Sparks team for a super FUN term. I can’t wait to see what the new team will be creating!

I used Zoo Crew and Hang Ups stamps sets to create this card. I created the frame with my Silhouette Cameo. The inspiration photo was so cool to work with. I hope you’ll join us for this challenge. Hop on over to the Sparks challenge blog and check out the fabulous new team! You won’t be disappointed by the talent that these ladies will be sharing with you for the next 6 months!

Hugs

Published on October 21, 2012, by

Just a quick post today to share a card I made for the RetroSketches #34  challenge. I used the negative cut from a previous card I made using my Silhouette Cameo. The file is from the Silhouette Online Store and it’s called Button Tree. Believe it or not, this is the first time I’ve used Washi Tape. I have no idea why I waited so long to try it. LOVE IT!!!
