The weeks have to stop going by so quickly! It seems like the last RetroSketch post was only a few days ago! Today’s sketch is based on a card I made back in September of last year. You can click HERE to take a peek at it. I followed my original design fairly closely but wanted to use a different color palette this time. Instead of using patterned paper for the horizontal strip I used a piece of vellum. I cut out a section of the card base and then reattached the vellum where the removed section use to be. I like the frosty dimensional look it gives the card.
I recently received my prize from Hero Arts and was itching to use the Playful Flowers and Butterflies and Floral Framelits Die and Stamp Sets! Thanks so much Hero Arts—I’m thoroughly enjoying these fabulous sets!!! I also used the Designer Woodgrain and Envelope Background stamps. The sentiment is from the Everyday Sayings stamp set by Hero Arts as well. I hope you’ll join us this week at RetroSketches! Last week we had some super fantastic submissions!!! Head on over to RetroSketches to see what Arielle, Kasia and Laurie have created this week! While you’re there you can also check out the fabulous ROCKstar and SHOUTouts!
I used the “Get Well Soon” sentiment so that I could submit this card into the Paper Crafts Gallery Idol challenge—the theme is Encouragement. I’m also going to link this up with the fun flower challenge over at the Young Crafter’s Unite Blog. I’ve recently discovered their challenge blog and the Design Team has fantastic samples that are really inspiring! You”ll have to go check them out!!!

very cool die cut effect and that vellum strip is brilliant!
Ooh love this woodgrain with the pops of color butterflies! Such a cool technique too!
I love the way you’ve included so many layers without it seeming bulky. Those are fun colors together: brown, pink, blue and yellow. I’m filing that one away. Thanks for the inspiration!
What a lovely card! The cut-out effect of the images on the tag is great, it gives such nice depth and texture.
Jackie this is amazing! I love the textures and the layering on the tag! I might have to look into those HA stamps! Fun!!
Awesome design Jackie! Love the die-cut overlay & the vellum panel.

Gorgeous sketch & card Jackie
The Young Crafters site is cool – but I don’t know I’d be game to post anything unless “young at heart” counts lol!
Too funny Lyndal! That’s what I thought at first too but “young at heart DOES count”

Jackie, good luck with PC Idol! I haven’t been following it, so didn’t know you were entering. I think you rock, and should do quite well!
LOVE the center panel made of vellum; never saw that before and it captivated me. Great inspiration; thanks so much!
So fun! Love the bright pops of colour, the way you die cut the tag and the fabulous double bow. I really want that woodgrain stamp now – it looks so cool embossed in white.
Oh my word. This is amazing, Jackie! Definitely a fave! The embossing of the woodgrain, the negative die cuts, the vellum…so gorgeous!
Such a pretty card Jackie! Love the woodgrain tag and the sweet die cut embellishments! Thanks for the inspiration!
Jackie that woodgrain stamp is amazing, I love how all the elements of your card pop without competing with each other. Fabulous.
